NETFLIX – ON DEMAND – SHOW Since the end of June, Parisian buses have been announcing the event. The springboard show for French Hip-hop, “Nouvelle Ecole”, resumed on July 4 for a third season on Netflix.
What is remarkable is above all the composition of the new jury, with the rappers SCH and SDM, but above all the singer Aya Nakamura, whose hypothetical participation in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, on July 26, creates the buzz for several months already.
The most listened French artist in the world is also a rap enthusiast. She shows it in this season, which goes far beyond the first two thanks to the artistic qualities of the candidates but also to the twists and turns linked to the new rules established by this jury, in particular a second chance system for those who fail. This is their watchword throughout this season: “New jury, new rules. » In reality, the three headliners do a little bit what they want with the nerves of the young artists but also with those of the public.
The production of the show has been lightened. No more casting in the provinces. The candidates present themselves in different performance halls in Greater Paris: the Gaîté-Lyrique and the Parc des Princes for Paris intra-muros, then in Seine-Saint-Denis with a rehearsal studio in Bondy or the industrial site Les Chaudronneries in Montreuil. Paris and its suburbs, filmed at night, have never seemed so luminous. In the first episode, where ten candidates must be eliminated – out of twenty in total – the three members of the jury talk about their participation in the show. The Marseillais SCH, already present for the first two seasons, gives the floor to his colleagues: “I wanted to be on the jury from the start,” admits Aya Nakamura. Discovering talents is my passion. I’m expected because people say I’m not a rapper. » The Hauts-de-Seine rapper SDM, who signed on Booba’s label, 92i, comes to his rescue: « You’re seriously legitimate, » he assures. « Madam ».
